We protect better what we have seen with our own eyes. This is the conviction that guides the educational side of MERveille: letting pupils experience the sea, not just telling them about it.
Learning by looking
Mask and snorkel on the underwater trail, observation at the Biodiversarium, meetings with divers and scientists: first-hand experience helps learning take root for the long term, alongside the textbook.
Hands-on workshops
Identifying species, the role of posidonia seagrass meadows, the impact of litter, responsible habits: the workshops turn biodiversity into accessible ideas, from primary school to sixth form.
MERveille’s school Friday
The festival’s opening day is dedicated to schools. On the programme: discovery trails, outreach workshops and citizen science, led by the scientific and community partners.
For teachers
The festival is preparing resources and dedicated time slots for classes for the school day on Friday 23 April 2027, including workshops run by the Biodiversarium and the Banyuls Oceanological Observatory (the Arago Laboratory, founded in 1882). Registration details will be confirmed ahead of the event, in partnership with local educational bodies.
